Root Canals
Ease Pain And Save Your Tooth
Your dentist uttered the dreaded dental phrase. You need a root canal. Root canal therapy carries misconceptions and negativity, but the treatment actually saves the tooth with the removal of damaged material. Plus, a root canal relieves the pain and inflammation coming from the tooth. At Radiant Smiles Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer root canal treatment to patients in Pineville and the greater Charlotte area. Our goal is to treat and save your natural tooth while also relieving your pain.
Reasons For Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is often the recommended treatment for a badly decayed or infected tooth. When a tooth is infected or decayed, pain is usually the first sign of a problem. Infections may be caused by decay, a chip or break in the tooth, or other tooth trauma. When the damage spreads to the pulp of the tooth where the blood supply and nerves are, it causes pain and sensitivity in and around the tooth.
An infected tooth will not magically heal or go away. It should be treated in a timely fashion to contain the damage, keep the infection from spreading throughout the mouth, and ease your discomfort.
A root canal treats the infection and saves your natural tooth, thus protecting the health of your mouth.
Root Canal Treatment Expectations
If you are experiencing tooth pain or symptoms of an infection, call Radiant Smiles Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. An examination of the tooth, gums, and mouth is necessary to determine the extent of the problem.
A root canal is a routine procedure that can be performed in our Pineville office. During the procedure, the treatment area is numbed with local anesthetics to ensure patient comfort. Once numbed, the dentist uses special instruments to enter the tooth and remove bacteria, dead tissues, and infection-causing materials. The canals of the tooth are then sterilized to fully cleanse the area. This makes sure the bacteria and infection are truly gone.
A special endodontic material called gutta percha fills and seals the tooth preventing contamination. A crown is placed over the sealed tooth to protect it from further damage. The actual tooth root remains in place preserving the health of the jawbone.

Forget your misconceptions about root canal therapy! The treatment is similar to filling a cavity. A root canal removes the infected material, relieves the inflammation, and eases your pain. Root canal therapy saves your natural tooth and preserves the health of your mouth by stopping the spread of decay or infection.
If you are experiencing tooth pain, do not hesitate to call us! At Radiant Smiles Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Pineville, our dental team offers affordable, high-quality dental care to prevent, diagnose, and treat dental problems and to keep your smile radiant.

My experience was phenomenal here.Breyanna Garcias
It's a great friendly and relaxing environment. I don't think anyone wants to go to the dentist but if you need to go this is the best place to go. I had two teeth pulled yesterday not real sore today and Lloyd Johnston done an excellent job of getting those stubborn things out. And he is down to earth and funny as well as the staff!Lisa Dickenson
