Nitrous Oxide For Dental Sedation

Also called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is used to create a calm, relaxed experience. In dentistry, it is often used to help patients who feel anxious or have trouble sitting still. It takes effect immediately and the patient remains awake throughout the treatment.
Uses Of Nitrous Sedation In Dentistry

- Helping young children sit still – Young children often have trouble staying still for dental appointments. When necessary for treatments such as dental fillings, nitrous oxide can help relax children and ease fidgeting.
- Treating patients who need significant work – Even adults have trouble sitting for long periods of time. When a treatment or procedure may take a significant period of time, laughing gas may be recommended to minimize excess movement
Safe Sedation Dentistry
Nitrous oxide is a very safe option for sedation dentistry. The patient’s medical history is thoroughly reviewed to ensure there are no allergies or diseases that could cause adverse reactions. If used, the medication is closely monitored and controlled by the dental team throughout the procedure.
Nitrous oxide takes effect immediately. It does not cause drowsiness so the patient remains awake and can communicate with the dentist. The patient breathes in a combination of oxygen and nitrous oxide through a mask.
Once the treatment is over, the medication is stopped and the effects cease immediately without any lasting effects. As the medication is turned off, the patient breathes in only oxygen to clear the lungs. Since there are no side effects or lingering reactions, patients can drive themselves home and resume normal activities after the appointment.

Radiant smiles is the place to go, you feel welcome, from the time you walk in till the time you leave, everyone is so pleasant, They welcome you in, and make sure they say,good bye when you leave, very attentive,The both girls in the front Shannan, and I am sorry I always forget her name,but she is so kind, Dash my teeth cleaner, and the doctor. It may sound crazy but I now love going to My Dentist! Everyone there are so friendly. They are so detailed with cleaning my teeth. They always ask if you are in pain or uncomfortable. Doc ALWAYS check on on you. We talked today about my Mom I was a little stressed she's still battling Cancer. All I can say is FAMILY!!!!
